Impact of rootstock and soil texture on vine development and fruit composition in a Marlborough Vineyard

Brief:

In order to investigate the impact of rootstock on vine development, and the interaction with soil type replicated trials were established on a commercial property on the Wairau Plains.  Two sites were established in 1992 and compared, on contrasting soil series.  The accumulated yield differences over the nine seasons measured in the trial were small and not significant, with 125AA giving the highest accumulated yield (62.6 kg/vine) and 3309 C the lowest with 58.8 kg/vine.
