Influence of training system on yield components and Sauvignon Blanc ripening

Brief:

The increased area of Sauvignon Blanc planted in Marlborough is putting pressure on labour, particularly during pruning. The performance of five commonly used pruning systems - 2-cane VSP, 4-cane VSP, Scott-Henry, Mid-height sylvos and Spur pruning - are being evaluated. In particular, the impact of pruning system on basal bud fertility is being measured.
